Solo violin recital by Christina Zhou

Violinist Christina Zhou will be performing solo, duet and trio works by Bach, Bruch, Prokofiev, Piazzolla, Ponce, Moszkowski and Tze Toh. The concert will also feature guest artists Kitty Cheung ( Hong Kong) on violin and Liu Jia on piano.
CHRISTINA ZHOU, violin
A highly active and sought after freelance violinist and teacher in Singapore, Christina Zhou is currently the Principal and Director of Coronation Music School. She is also the Assistant Music Director of her ensemble, TO ensemble.
Christina has a vast experience in playing chamber, orchestral music and recording for commercial projects both in the States and in Singapore, as well as giving education workshops and coaching from pre-school to pre-college level.
She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the Eastman School of Music, and her Graduate Diploma from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory. Her teachers included Sui Yuelong, Zhang Zhen Shan, Zuo Jun and Zvi Zeitlin.
KITTY CHEUNG, violin ( Hong Kong)
Kitty Cheung is currently a member of Contrast Trio (Ensemble-in-Residence of The Chinese University of Hong Kong 2017-18), first violinist of Romer String Quartet, and violin faculty at the Hong Kong Baptist University. She was the Associate Concertmaster of Hong Kong Sinfonietta between 2011-2017.
She received her early music training in her native Hong Kong. She later obtained undergraduate and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Eastman School of Music, and two master degrees from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her teachers included Lin Yao-Ji, Ho Hong-Ying, Charles Castleman, David Takeno and Zvi Zeitlin.
LIU JIA, piano
A full-time Lecturer of Collaborative piano and Accompaniment faculty in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, an official pianist of the Singapore International Violin Festival and the 1st International Violin Competition, Liu Jia has performed as soloist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as well as major orchestras in China, including the China Film Symphony and Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
Liu Jia has worked as an accompanist with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Singapore Lyric Opera, among others. Active in the chamber music scene, Liu performs regularly in the SSO Chamber Series. A graduate of China’s Central Conservatory of Music, she was born in Beijing, into a family of professional musicians.
